Discover the innovations transforming our world
Imagine stepping 50 years into the future and finding smart cities designed to be totally sustainable. Renewable energy is our primary power source, space-based solar power provides solar energy 24 hours a day, everything is recycled, and you travel in individualized pods that run on little or no energy. This isn’t science fiction. Engineers are making plans for a sustainable world right now, and it’s coming to the giant screen!
Cities of the Future is produced in association with American Society of Civil Engineers.

Future City
Cities of the Future is inspired by a global initiative called Future World Vision, designed to transform the way we think about our cities and infrastructure. Engineers are working to solve the world’s most pressing problems as they embrace new technologies to make our communities safer, more sustainable, more livable, and more equitable. As part of this initiative, ASCE created Mega City 2070, an immersive desktop platform that explores a city 50 years into the future, based on real engineering and scientific principles. The 3D digital model puts you at the heart of Mega City and invites you to contribute to the dynamic in-platform community. The platform is designed for a host of users and learning experiences, providing an innovative way to digitally investigate various aspects of a future city. Explore Mega City and discover new ideas for real future cities!
